Walking the Highlands

The Duke of Gordon is in a fantastic location for walkers and ramblers, situated as it is in the middle of the Cairngorms National Park.  There are some wonderful walks to suit all abilities in the area surrounding the hotel.  In fact, there are lovely walks radiating from our door and we are delighted to be affiliated with Walk Highlands and to have been chosen as a medal hub by Ramblers – Britain’s Walking Charity.

We are proud to have played host to various walking groups and are delighted that a lot of them return year after year with comments such as these:

“Led group of 25 ramblers in June 2013 for lovely stay with many varied, interesting walks of all grades, some direct from hotel. With  friendly hospitality, varied and quality evening meals, excellent restaurant management, along with great help and flexibility in meeting our group members’ needs, this was excellent base for lovely walking holiday. Evening entertainment was a bonus for relaxing evening”

“We did three walks during our weekend with you. Creag Bheag and Loch Gynack, The Wild Cat Trail and The Invertromie Trail from Insh Marshes RSPB. These walks gave us a sample of the beautiful and varied scenery on the doorstep. The weather was ideal and The Duke of Gordon looked after us exceptionally well. The facilities, accommodation and meals were not only of high quality but also excellent value. We enjoyed the free entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. Haste we back.

We will certainly recommend your Hotel as an ideal venue for walking groups and trust all your visitors will enjoy themselves as much as we did.”
