Black Wood and Dùn da-Lamh Fort

This excellent circuit climbs through forestry and native pinewoods before following an open ridge to the remains of the Pictish fort of Dùn da-Lamh. The higher ground gives extensive views over the upper Spey valley and east towards Badenoch.

Pinewoods, history and wide views

The route uses paths and tracks throughout, although a few shorter sections can be overgrown or boggy. The fort detour and open ridge make this a particularly memorable half-day walk.
