Ruthven and Glen Tromie Circuit

Beginning beside the atmospheric ruins of Ruthven Barracks, this rewarding circuit crosses open moorland before descending through the birchwoods of Glen Tromie and returning along the edge of the Insh Marshes.

A varied half-day walk

The old right of way can be faint, heathery and boggy, so this route is best suited to confident walkers with good navigation skills. The return follows clearer tracks and waymarked reserve paths, with wide views across Badenoch along the way.
